BT spin-out Company wins award for International Trade performance

Queen's AwardIpswich; Today, ThorpeGlen was named as one of the winners of the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. The award recognises exceptional performance in growing international trade by British Companies.

ThorpeGlen Ltd is a specialist software company headquartered at Martlesham Heath, Suffolk.  The company was originally a telecoms fraud analysis research team inside BT's R&D facility before it became part of BT Brightstar spin-out company Azure Solutions. Since 2006, the company has been expanding its customer base internationally.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious awards for business performance. They recognise and reward outstanding achievement by UK companies. To win an international trade award, a company must be able to demonstrate substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success, to levels that are outstanding for the goods or services concerned and for the size of the applicant's operations sustained over a period of not less than three years.

"The Queen's Award is a great honour, a fabulous achievement and a credit to the people who helped form and work in the business", said Dave Woods, CEO at ThorpeGlen. "It is a mark of recognition and has been achieved only through the combined efforts and commitment of the entire ThorpeGlen Team, both here in the UK and overseas.  We hope this milestone provides additional impetus to drive the business to further success both in our current regions and the new regions we are targeting"

"I am thrilled with the Queen's Award," said Boyd Mulvey CEO at Create Partners.  "We invest in technology companies in the East of England and saw the potential in the ThorpeGlen people and technology right from the start.  The team should be very proud to have their significant achievements recognised by the Queen."

"ThorpeGlen's customers benefit from research and development going back to the early 1990's," noted ThorpeGlen's Chairman, Tim Goode.  "Many of the current team have been working together on complex mathematical algorithms for over 15 years, and I am convinced that part of the international success is based on the company's brilliant technical products."

Phil Dance, senior BT manager at Adastral Park said, "This award is a fantastic achievement by ThorpeGlen and a shining example of a company thriving in the community of businesses at Adastral Park. BT works alongside many companies at the site and by providing accommodation for more businesses we are encouraging the growth of skills and jobs in the East of England."
